Problem
AR Demolition requested a pontoon that would be suitable and safe for heavy equipment to operate on, over water. It was required to help with demolition of the Hamms Hall bridge over the River Tame.
Solution
We built three 8 x 4 metre ScaffFloats which we then connected together using big beams on deck to create a 12.0 x 8.0m pontoon.
Richter were asked to provide design assistance for the pontoon that was supplied by us. They assessed the proposed structure with recommendations and carried out stability checks on arrangement.
The smaller pontoons were mobilised on the shore of the river and then lowered into the water with minimum frame work construction and then completed on the water by being joined together. The heavy plant was then driven down the bank onto the pontoon to begin operations.
This was the first time we had built this format and demonstrates how each project is different and is treated to individual project management from our team to create a solution that suits their situation.
