HMS Iron Duke & St Albans – Inclination Test – Falmouth

Problem

APCL A&P Falmouth Docks needed a stable platform for surveyors to conduct inclination tests on two of there Type T23, Naval Frigates, Iron Duke and St Albans.

This required good stable access to the load line markings on the hull to the waterline.

Solution

ScaffFloat mobilised an 8x4m self-propelled pontoon with twin high-thrust 60hp engines. A water level shelf was built onto the front with vertical fender pads, the ScaffFloat could then ‘push on’ to the ships hull and gave the surveyors excellent access to take their measurements.

Testimonial

Luke Wills from APCL A&P Falmouth said “‘Maintaining a busy commercial port such as Falmouth with the variety of vessel types and operations takes a wide range of craft. Our local supplier Scaffloat offers a unique system that can be tailored to the variety of operations we need to support our port operations here”.
