PROBLEM
Contractors needed to remove a complex mixture of heavy duty power cables and various data cable from the underside of the causeway that runs above the River Taff as part of the Millennium Stadium complex.
SOLUTION
An 8m x 4m ScaffFloat with outboard engine and skipper was easily mobilised 2 miles downstream from the stadium and, after an initial onsite assessment of the project, the fitted access tower was adapted to allow the Scafffloat to drive in and out between the concrete structure on the underside of the causeway.
This simple solution allowed the entire job, including removing all old cabling to shore and the fitting of new cabling to be completed considerably ahead of schedule.
“The whole experience of using this – this has been the first time we’ve used it – has been superb and I would certainly recommend the services to anybody else that needs it.”
