Problem
GA Marine required assistance to undertake welding and replating of a roll on/roll off ferry ramp in Southampton docks that had been identified as requiring immediate repair to rectify degradation to its structure. They wanted to avoid taking the ramp out of the water in order to get it operational as quickly as possible and keep costs down.
Solution
ScaffFloat mobilised an 8 x 6.4m self-propelled workboat with twin high thrust 100hp outboards. With inbuilt launch wheels, it was mobilised on a nearby slipway and then pushed into the water using a HIAB.
A cantilevered water level shelf was added to allow the workforce easy access to the waterline to carry out the work required. One of our qualified skippers was on site at all times to ensure the safety of the team and the ScaffFloat.
