Problem
We were asked to offer long term floating access to facilitate shot blasting of jetty piles in Teesside. They wanted our team to create the bespoke solution, mobilise it and then skipper the pontoon while training up their own staff to take over day to day operation of the ScaffFloat for the long term project.
Solution
We mobilised a 8x3m recessed self propelled ScaffFloat with 2x high thrust 60hp outboards. The chosen dimensions allowed for optimum manoeuvrability between the piles under the jetty. The skipper would place the pile that was being worked on within the built in recess which would then be fully encapsulated to facilitate work using scaffold boards. A monkey tower on allowed shot blasting to continue at any state of tide.
Over the course of the first month of operations we supplied a professional skipper who transitioned the chosen site employees from assisting as crew to taking full control of the pontoon. The project is ongoing with us offering support where needed.
