PROBLEM
Dagger Diving was contracted to conduct UXO investigations prior to the works on the Stolthaven Marine terminal. Tides and ship movements required the pontoon to be moved at short notice and positioned closely to each target to be reached by the diving umbilical.
SOLUTION
The pontoon design provided by ScaffFloat allowed for autonomous operations in the Thames River, inspected and certified for use by the Port of London Authority. It was assembled on location at Stolthaven and lifted into place by a crane. The pontoon was able to ‘dry-out’ in between the tides by retracting equipment from under the deck.
Due to the configurable nature of the pontoons the dive control welfare and survey equipment could all be placed in the best location regarding the access and egress points for the divers. 24 hour dive ops were facilitated by large light areas of deck.
This pontoon is the third diving pontoon provided to Dagger Diving during 2021.
