Our fabricated steel bow roller is used for anchor handling. It drops over the bow of a self-propelled ScaffFloat and is secured in place. We then use a deck winch mounted at the back of the ScaffFloat to haul sections of anchor chain over the bow roller chutes, before making it off with hooks or shackles, resetting the winch wire, and hauling again. Haul lengths depend on the length of the ScaffFloat, but the average would be 7-12m. The bow roller has been designed to handle anchors up to 250kg.
