Most structures we work on are in tidal areas, this means the height from the ScaffFloat deck to the underside of the structure changes as the tide goes up and down, we refer to this measurement as ‘air draft’. To give contractors access over the course of a tidal cycle (12 hours) we use a range of adjustable work platforms that we tie down into the scaffold structure for stability.
In order to support every project there is a standard health and safety package that comes with each hire alongside which some optional extras.
Depending on your projects requirements you can easily add Hiab cranes and davits to you ScaffFloat. Similarly, if required the actually pontoon can be hoisted up underneath structures or ballasted in order to lower things on to the seabed.
As pontoons move on the water we need to moor them securely in place before you can work from them.
To turn a ScaffFloat pontoon into a versatile workboat we can install our bespoke engine pods; either as a single or twin setup with a hydraulic steering system, depending on the requirement of the project.

We have a range of mooring blocks, heavy anchors and chains, risers and buoys that can be laid as temporary moorings on longer term projects.
For anchoring, we hire out windlass sets to go with our anchors, as well as the necessary chain, warp and any batteries required.
Our fabricated steel bow roller is used for anchor handling. It drops over the bow of a self-propelled ScaffFloat and is secured in place.
Spud legs drop down into the river or sea bed and hold the pontoon in position. They are much safer and more effective than using mooring lines.
As most of our ScaffFloat pontoons are self-propelled and skippered, we often use the method of “pushing on”.
Our outboard pods turn a ScaffFloat pontoon into a useful workboat. As a vessel it needs to be manned by a qualified skipper, which we can provide if needed.
